Kills TradFlood itional Ruler In Delta


Tragedy struck yesterday in Ndokwa area of Delta State as the traditional ruler (Name withheld on traditional grounds) was drowned while being evacuated from his domain.
He reportedly drowned when the
boat he was being evacuated with capsized bringing to three the number of persons that have been drowned in the state since the flood started on September 17.
About 7,000 persons have been trapped by the devastating flood in Ewulu community, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.
The victims are calling for government’s intervention in evacuating them to upland.
It was gathered that the state Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama had visited the community and was said to have directed the Ministry of Transport to make vehicles available for the evacuation of victims.
But as at the time our correspondent visited yesterday, victims have resorted to self help due to the absence of government logistics.
Many shops, hotels, motor parks, government offices, retail outlets shacks and makeshift structures have been submerged by the flood.
Daily Trust finding revealed that flood victims from displaced communities are also taking temporary refuge along the expressway at the risk of being run over by heavy duty vehicles.Hear, See, and Say it
