Peter Obi Spotted On Bourdillon Road Without Security Details

Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has been spotted on Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, where the former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu resides.

Obi, in a widely circulated photograph, was spotted with a friend walking along the Bourdillon Road, without any security detail attached to him, like other politicians would have.

Mixed reactions have however, trailed the photos, as there are reports that Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Tinubu were forming alliance to float a new Mega Political party ahead of the 2019 Presidential election.

Mikel To Become Highest Paid Player At Marseille?

Struggling  French Ligue 1 side Marseille  may have succeeded in convincing  out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi to shun big-money move  to the Chinese Super League to help revive the club.

Former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, who  bought Marseille in October, had promised to invest heavily in the January transfer window to help manager Rudi Garcia  build a team  that could be European champions.

Les Phoceens were ready to rescue Mikel  from  his Chelsea nightmare in the summer  but the player’s  reported £3.4m-a-year  salary  reportedly  aborted  the  move.

John Mikel Obi
With McCourt ready to spend in January – and Mikel yet to play a single game for Chelsea since the beginning of the season – reports in France on Sunday claimed Marseille were ready to sign the 29-year-old.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr also  confirmed Mikel, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season,  was in talks with Marseille.

“I saw him in London. He  is in advanced discussions with OM. Marseille is a serious option for him,” the German told Europe 1.

Chinese moneybags Shanghai SIPG  reportedly offered   Mikel £170,000 per week to move to Asia but Europe 1 believes the 2013 Africa Cup  of Nations winner will move to Stade Velodrome next month as  he will be a key player at the project at Marseille.

Garcia   has said  he will only sign top players in January  and believes Mikel will  bring a

Aso Rock exit: Jonathan to live in luxury island villa

Posted by Okechukwu Nwokafor

After May 29, President Goodluck Jonathan will leave the Aso Villa. SIMON UTEBOR was at the President’s Otuoke, Bayelsa State-country home where he is expected to retire to

The air around the sprawling estate is amazingly cool. Looking around, the answer to this quickly dawns on our correspondent. The estate is opposite a creek, and the rolling breeze keep coming.

It is Otuoke, the home town of President Goodluck Jonathan. Otuoke is a small island community in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

And there, the estate sprawls over a large expanse of land contrasting sharply with its rustic surrounding. It is said to belong to President Jonathan.

On the long road to the gates, soldiers and members of other security agencies, apparently on sentry duty, walked on the grounds. The overall air suggested guarded and protected serenity. No one needs the gift of clairvoyance to understand they are approaching a restricted zone.

Behind the gates, shoving their heads above the walls are no fewer than eight different structures apparently for different purposes: recreation, security posts and guard quarters. A visitor to Otuoke will not be penalised for calling the place a fortress.

Activities in this place, a source within said had been at a lull until a couple of weeks ago. And it is largely believed that come May 29, after the expiration of his tenure, President Jonathan would relocate to the place.

As if the President had the premonition that he would not live in Aso Rock beyond 2015, he was reported to have begun acquiring properties adjacent his sprawling country home by late 2013.

The President, SUNDAY PUNCH gathered, acquired properties on an area which runs to about seven acres of Otuoba which were around his mansion that had been there earlier.

The place was thereafter expanded to encase the mansion while new structures were erected round it.

It was also gathered that adequate compensation was paid to the owners of these properties to enable them relocate elsewhere.

It was learnt that Jonathan after acquiring those buildings in 2013, engaged the services of a construction company, Jiito, to expand the estate to accommodate his new acquisition.

Today, Jonathan’s mini – estate, which overlooks a creek that links Otuoke to other coastal communities of Bayelsa, is a cynosure of all eyes.

A visit to Otuoke on Thursday showed that Jonathan’s mansions, which had been undergoing construction and reconstruction in the last 10 years are now ready for habitation. The area they sit on is best described as an island.

It was learnt that before now, each time the President visited Otuoke, he usually slept in his wife’s (Patience) castle which is directly opposite the Federal University, Otuoke.

It was also learnt that the Jonathans own the choicest properties in Otuoke. The President was said to have built a two-storey building each for his mother and father opposite his own.

His wife, Dame Patience, asides a hotel, is also said to have numerous buildings that have been converted into hostels for FUO female students.

On the readiness of the Jonathans to return to Otuoke, one of the military personnel guarding his houses said all the mansions in the estate were ready except one.

The soldier, who declined to give his name, said the contractors were fixing air conditioners and window blinds on the last mansion.

The security operative said, “I can tell you that the houses are ready. Everything is in order. It remains only one building where the contractors are putting window blinds, curtains and air conditioners.

“I overheard some of the workers saying that they had been instructed to finish the last building before the second week of May. I think it is because the President is returning home.

“As of now, no domestic staff or relatives are living here. All his relatives have their homes. It is only military men and policemen that are living in some of the buildings.

“Even at that, many buildings are left unoccupied because the buildings are so massive and it will take a community to occupy them.”

The soldier, who said he had been living at the place for the past four years, claimed some of the President’s domestic staff were in his Kpansia, Yenagoa mansion, which he built while he was Deputy Governor of Bayelsa.

That the President will be returning to Otuoke according to the soldier, is only symbolic, stressing that apart from the mansions at Otuoke, Jonathan and his family members have numerous buildings at Okaka Estate, off Isaac Boro Expressway in Yenagoa.

Many residents of Otuoke are indeed longing to see President Jonathan, one of their illustrious sons, return home.

For them, Jonathan has made Otuoke, once a relatively unknown place, known to people outside it and turning it to a city to be reckoned with.

A resident, Prere Goodthinking, said though President Jonathan lost his re-election bid, he is God-sent, not only to Bayelsa people but to the entire country.

Prere said, “Whether people like it or not, Jonathan can best be described as an icon of Nigeria’s democracy. He is a man of peace, a gentleman and a great statesman.

“He has proved to the whole world that he is not a power-monger. He has shown the world that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. We want other leaders to emulate him. We are going to celebrate his return and I hope Nigerians and the world will also celebrate our illustrious son.”

Another resident, who gave his name only as Ebilari, said Jonathan had made Otuoke to be on the world map for good reasons.

She said, “About 12 years ago, Otuoke was a jungle. Most houses there were decrepit. But today, you can see that the place that was once a hamlet has become a wonderful city.

“Buildings are springing up everywhere. Life has become more meaningful for the people. Before you mention three prominent places in Bayelsa, Otuoke must come up. Thus, we are proud of our son Jonathan. We are waiting enthusiastically to receive him after his national assignment on May 29.”

Igbo and the fallacy of Mbaka’s God’s vindication

Posted By Okechukwu Nwokafor

THE 1967-70 Nigeria Civil War, for the Igbo was a battle of historic survival against the forces of national darkness that roamed in the form of periodic unrestrained anti-Igbo riots and massacres, and subsequently the chilling pogrom of 1969.

It was not only a battle for survival but for the upholding of the Igbo man’s dignity, which, as previously feared got swallowed up by the events of the civil war. Those who supported Biafra did so not because of the capability of the Igbo to win the war against the World Powers-supported Federal might but for the case of conscience.

The likes of Presidents Houphouet-Boigny of Cote d’Voire, Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, Omar Bongo of Gabon, Papa Doc of Haiti and to some extent Siaka Stevens of Sierra Leone, Jomo Kenyata of Kenya, William Tolbert of Liberia, and the French Government of the time did so out of conscience against the forces of darkness that ruled Nigeria at that time. This explains why, even at the final defeat of the Igbo they never abandoned their vanquished friends-turned brothers. Today there are sprawling Igbo populations in these countries with many of them not only becoming full citizens of their host countries, but even playing very important Government roles.

As the Igbo would often say, “no land exists without the presence of the lizard”. So it has become customary to say that no battle takes place without the active roles of saboteurs. The Nigeria civil war, like any such war of its kind no doubt witnessed a number of Igbo citizens playing the Vidkun Quisling role against their own people, sabotaging the survivalist sacrificial efforts of their down-trodden people by supporting the Federal troops, prophesying the doomsday for their people’s struggle for survival.

These people not only celebrated the defeat of their own people but shamelessly rushed to seek Federal Government appointments and contracts while those who sacrificed, endured and survived remained in perpetual penury for decades and for life.

Today, Reverend Ejike Mbaka in the event of General Muhammadu Buhari’s victory presents himself as a champion of God’s prophecy, just because he vaingloriously assumed that his words are the words of God verbatim. But there remain certain clear indices to determine if an event is truly the act of God in the manner a visioner or soothsayer presented it. We know that Ejike Mbaka is from Awgu district in Enugu State and it is not disputable that his people of Enugu State overwhelmingly voted for President Goodluck Jonathan. Secondly, Mbaka should let us know if the massive failure of the Jega’s rigging machine miscalled Card-readers was the act of God. Thirdly, let Father Mbaka tell Nigerians how the God he worships approved the fraudulent permission of under-aged children to vote in the northern part of the country.

For we all know that the God of the Roman Catholic Church of which Reverend Father Mbaka belongs is a just God who hates cheating in whatever form it is presented. Unless Reverend Mbaka is telling us that he has another God other than the one Almighty God we all know and acknowledged.Yes, if the victors said the defeat of Biafra was the act of God, the Igbo could not have denied such a statement, just as the on-going victory of the blood-sucking Islamic State in Syria and the Levante (ISIS/ISIL) and their budding children in Nigeria called Boko Haram could also be attributed to the act of God. Those who truly worship God in truth and spirit through any form or medium truly know that God’s ways are hard to fully predict by mortal man.

For whatever it was worth, the massive Igbo support for President Jonathan was a patriotic call to duty. Yes, President Jonathan might not have met the greater part of our expectations from him as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. But for the Igbo, he wiped out the ignominious tears of second-fiddlers in Federal Government affairs. For the first time since the end of the Nigeria civil war, the Igbo occupied in one stroke the positions of Secretary of the Government of the Federation, two Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces at the same time – the Army and Navy.

At least the second Niger Bridge is presently under construction.  Beyond these, the massive Igbo support for the President was a cementing force that eventually obliterated the political cancer of rivalry and mutual mistrust between the Igbo and their South-South ethnic brothers that began with Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Professor Eyo Ita in the 1950s. Today, the contentious State creation agitation by these neighbours of the Igbo from the defunct Igbo-dominated Eastern Region has been resolved with the existing multiplicity of States.

The civil war has come and gone. But could we say that the reason for which the Igbo took up the arms of defence against the Federal Government no longer exists? The Niger Delta militants took up arms against the Federal Government in defence of their rights and have through that experience chiefly identified who their friends and foes are. Have the Igbo actually identified who their friends and foes are in the matrix of present politics?

The historical experience of any people so oppressed like the Igbo, no matter how checkered it might be, fundamentally calls for reflection and in essence a lesson. The emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria most importantly calls for reflection primarily for the Igbo. It is a matter that evidently put the Igbo on the balance of sustained political principle via-a-vis a taciturn principle of progressive opposition or wobbling edifice of political harlotry.

The present balance of political equation beckons on true Igbo patriots to stand firm and hold the bull of politics by its horn of emerging political challenges. The greatest political disaster the Igbo will attract on themselves is for the crop of her political leaders to aimlessly drift to the soon to emerge ruling APC in the name of being afraid to be in opposition. What is most important for the present political terrain is for both the South East and South-South to further cement the political gains of common solidarity for Jonathan by building a strong force of opposition.

What has become customary in the acquisition of political power in Nigeria today, except for the Igbo, is that ethnic generated conflicts often end in Presidential compensation.

President Olusegun Obasanjo reaped from the blood-watering conflict of June 12 presidential election annulment.  President Umar Yar’Adua benefited from the dastard incarceration and eventual death of his senior brother in the hands of General Sani Abacha.

President Goodluck Jonathan invariably reaped from the Niger Delta struggles for economic emancipation. And now, can one deny the fact that General Muhammadu Buhari evidently reaped from the on-going Boko Haram insurgency? What did the Igbo reap from the 30-month long civil war? The Igbo had since the end of the civil war engaged in competitive licking of the political ass of  most past Federal Governments except in fact that of President Jonathan. Will this be the  case with President Muhammadu Buhari?

Who Will Help Ndigbo?

Posted by Okechukwu Nwokafor

THE recent verbal threat against Ndigbo in Lagos by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has brought to fore, once again, the endangered position of Igbos in Nigeria. It is foolhardy for anyone to pretend about this.

For the Igbos themselves, it is self-deception not to face the reality of this precarious situation. From the North, and now down to the West, hangs the foreboding cloud of hostility against them. It has always loomed, hence they are made scape goats at the slightest displeasure of their fellow Nigerians.

I am not an ethnic jingoist or apologist. I do not believe in ethnicism, as a matter of fact. I am not writing this article because I am an Igbo, not even because I am a Nigerian. I am writing it because I am a civilized human being who understand and believe in the ethos of a civilized society. The records of the victimization of Ndigbo since after the independence of Nigeria is very glaring.

From the holocaust against them in Northern Nigeria preceding the civil war and during the war to the abandoned property saga in Port Harcourt; from the infamous twenty pounds to every bank account holder irrespective of how much was in the account before the war to the post war intermittent riots and ensuing massacre and destruction of properties in the North, the Igbo man has been the sacrificial lamb of Nigeria. Count all that the Igbos have gone through in Nigeria and it will be surprising to many that they are still existing and surviving.

The only thing strange about the appalling utterances of the Oba is that it came in a democratic era and bothers on the inalienable rights of the people to vote according to their conscience. Voters are wooed by every legitimate means to vote for candidates in election but not by threat. A ruler at his level and in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos is expected to be up to date with prevailing social realities.

There is nothing wrong for him to summon Igbo leaders and solicit for their votes for his candidate, but to resort to threat belies all civilized norms. It smacks of primitivism for anyone, no matter how highly placed, to arrogate to himself the power of life and death. It is also shameful when a despot announces to the whole world that he single handedly picked a candidate for a position as big as a state governor. It makes mockery of APC’s internal democracy.

The so-called power brokers, it does not matter in what guise they operate, are the problems of Nigeria. They pretend to be benefactors but they are rather destroyers. What message was the Oba sending across to Nigerians with his unguarded utterances against a section of the country? He thought he was helping his candidate, but he was unknowingly hurting him, creating enemies for him, robbing him of some valuable votes. Some decent Lagosians who would have voted for him might have had a rethink. When a person in authority refuses to recognize the limit of his power, he becomes a nuisance to himself and others.

There are some questions that should beckon on us at this time. What happens to the polity if Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Kano, Obi of Onitsha, Oba of Benin, Obong of Calabar and all notable traditional rulers in Nigeria issue the same threats to non-indigenes in their domain? War drums will sound everywhere and our democracy will become a charade.

Those who should be guardians to all Nigerians in their domain should not succumb to divisive tendencies to denigrate their offices. Covert partisanship is not known to traditional institutions like obaship.

The conspiracy of silence that has followed the threat of the Oba is quite worrisome. Since the hate speech was made last Sunday, I have been following Nigerian papers to see the reactions of people. Apart from Lagos state chapter of PDP, Femi Fani-Kayode, Ohaneze Youth Council and a section of the Catholic Church, no notable Nigerian or organisation said anything about it.

Newspapers and columnists have not commented on it. Shallow minds may give political or ethnic interpretation to it, but discerning minds will give realistic perspective to it. If Lagosians from other ethnic groups are silent because they are not involved, they are living in a fool’s paradise. It can be their turn tomorrow. If all Nigerians had read, or rather understood, the hand writing on the wall in 1966, the country wouldn’t have been at the crossroads it is today.

The ever loquacious APC media team is quiet because the Oba campaigned for them. Self-delusion, isn’t it? The bane of Nigerian politicians who think about themselves only and not about the country. They are insincere at keeping quiet about evil when it benefits them, forgetting that they may be at the receiving end in future.

This hate speech is not about Ndigbo, it is not about politics; it is about a Nazist, a Hitler endangering the rest of the world because of his obsession for superiority. This is about the tyranny of one man which can compromise our electoral process and the unity of the country. Nigerians should arise to condemn it so that it does not happen again.

I just imagine if this threat had emanated from an emir in the North or an Eze from the East,by now the papers would have been awash with reactions and calls for the arrest of the Emir or Eze. Where are the Lagos based human rights activists and lawyers? Where are the newspapers and their columnists? Where are the commentators on public affairs? Are the Igbos not part of Nigeria?

This conspiracy of silence over this “verbal holocaust” as someone called it, is a grim reminder of how endangered Ndigbo are in Nigeria. Sadly enough, they do not seem to realise this. The Oba feels threatened by a people that have come to own more than half of Lagos. It is only a blind man that stumbles twice over the same stone

2015 Election will be Bloody But Jonathan is Returning— Prophet Ayorinde

Ahead of his formal declaration to run for a second term in office, President Goodluck Jonathan has been warned to be wary of disgruntled elements that might desperately make attempts on his life in a bid to remove him from power and foil his ambition to contest in the 2015 general elections.

Giving the warning while speaking on the state of the nation, the president and founder of the World Evangelism Bible Church, (WEBIC) Incorporated, Ojota, Lagos, and Chairman of Faith Television, London, Prophet (Dr) Samson Ayorinde, also warned that the forthcoming elections would be

Double tragedy: Why Malaysia Airlines won't survive the MH17 crash

Hit by two astonishing tragedies in quick succession, the Malaysia Airlines brand may become the airline industry's equivalent of asbestos or News of the World: toxic to the public and, experts say, impossible to redeem.

VATICAN SPOKESMAN CLAIMS "JESUS WAS DRUNK WHEN HE PROMISED HIS 2ND COMING"

On a very serious note, I don’t really want to publish this story before but its becoming a source of concern to me. According to spokesperson for the Vatican,Cardinal Giorgio Salvadore, the second coming of Jesus, the only son of the God, may not happen now after all because Jesus was taking wine when he made the promise. Cardinal Giorgio Salvadore has officially announced that this year’s 1,981st anniversary is to be the Vatican’s last in regards to waiting for the Lord to return to Earth. But he urged followers to still continue with their faith, regardless of the news. Cardinal Salvadore said, "We just feel Jesus is not coming back by the looks of it. It’s been ages like. He’s probably flat out doing other really good things for people somewhere else. In chapter John 14:1-3 of the Bible, Jesus promised his disciples that he would come again: "There are many homes up where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with Me where I am. If this weren’t so, I would tell you plainly." Cardinal explained Jesus’ broken promise saying that he was probably drinking wine at the time when he made the comments. "Having the ability to turn water into wine had its ups and its downs. We all make promises we can’t keep when we’re drunk. Jesus was no different," added Cardinal Salvadore. The church said it will now focus attentions on rebuilding its reputation around the world, but will keep an optimistic mind for the savior’s second coming.

Pope Francis says he would baptize aliens

Pope Francis arrives to honor Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II by declaring them saints in a canonization mass in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican in Vatican City on April 27, 2014. (File/UPI/Stefano Spaziani)

The topic came up while Francis was speaking about acceptance, inclusion and converting non-believers into Christians, according to Vatican Radio reports.
Francis brought up a Bible story in which Peter sees a group of non-Christians receiving the Holy Spirit and is later criticized for associating with them.
Then aliens came up...
"That was unthinkable. If -- for example -- tomorrow an expedition of Martians came, and some of them came to us, here... Martians, right? Green, with that long nose and big ears, just like children paint them... And one says, 'But I want to be baptized!' What would happen?"
He referenced the story and the extra-terrestrials in order to remind people that the Catholic Church is supposed to have open doors.
"Who are we to close doors? In the early Church, even today, there is the ministry of the ostiary [usher]. And what did the ostiary do? He opened the door, received the people, allowed them to pass. But it was never the ministry of the closed door, never."

Nigeria in the Eyes of the World

Nigeria has lately attracted unsavoury global attention, in spite of the assistance the world powers are willing to render in the fight against terror. Shola Oyeyipo writes

In time past, Nigeria despite its limitations enjoyed some passable coverage in the global media. But that appears to have stopped.
Lately, the country has become one of the most featured in the global media giants like the Cable Network News (CNN), Aljazeera, China Cable Television (CCTV), Euro News, Sky News, virtually all African broadcasting channels and networks across the world. This is in the wake of the abduction of about 300 school girls from their school in Chibok, Borno State, North-east Nigeria, more so that their whereabouts is unknown.

Some analysts thought the repeated Boko Haram attacks shortly before the World Economic Forum (WEF) were some sort of scare tactics. But the global outrage that greeted the abduction came at about the same time that Nigeria hosted the World Economic Forum in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The forum itself was held amidst tight security.

Ordinarily, the WEF itself attracted worldwide media presence as the event attracted most of the world’s biggest global players in the business and investment sector. However, that was not the reason the country attained sudden popularity. It was because the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents peaked at the time.

Several Boko Haram attacks in Northern Nigeria have left no fewer than 4500 persons dead and several fatally wounded in different attacks and this has earned Nigeria a place in the list of terror-stricken nations. In fact, the American government has listed Boko Haram among international terrorist organisations.

Since 2011 when the group became vicious, it bombed the United Nation (UN) complex and the Police Headquarters in Abuja. Later that year, the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was bombed. And as these went on, worship centres in states like Yobe, Plateau, Niger, Adamawa and Kano were constantly under attack. Palaces of respected royal fathers and market squares were not spared, including popular motor parks.

But when on April 14, the insurgents kidnapped and made away with over 280 girls (though the figures keep changing), in two coordinated attacks, nearly placing Nigeria on

There Is No More Boko Haram, It Is The Military Task Force- Military Source. (PART 2)

Continued from (PART 1)...........Nigeria’s government is yet to formally refute these allegations. The army men further explained that with the amount of military checkpoints in the areas of conflict it was impossible for terrorists to ply freely with Armored Personnel Carriers, APC’s as they did. “No one can move about in those areas with all those checkpoints, how do the terrorists get around… it is because the army gives them passage,” he said. On the Helicopters flying in Nigeria’s air spaces which has been happening for two years now, a soldier said that a person he knew who was kidnapped for a month in a Boko Haram camp described seeing these choppers fly over to drop weapons and food routinely; he said the food included good chicken and burgers from Mr. Biggs, food ordinary people could not afford and that came from the cities. He said it was impossible for choppers to keep flying safely like so in Nigeria’s monitored airspace without there being military involvement. It is reported that choppers also help the military dressed attackers who have been ravaging the middle belt of Nigeria, the states of Benue, Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara. One of the military sources also told us that a popular journalist mediator, Ahmad Saldika, who used to inform Nigerians on the true happenings with Boko Haram, left Nigeria on self-exile to the UAE because he was afraid of being killed by government forces who knew he knew the truth of the situation. On the Giwa barrack attack that successfully freed hundreds of jailed terrorists, military sources told us that a ‘pin’ on the armored tank stationed to protect the barracks was surprisingly removed and thus the tank could not protect the barrack when ‘Boko Haram’ struck. They also queried why despite the military being informed three weeks to the attack, the military did not adequately beef up security to protect the Giwa barrack from the terrorists attack. It was explained that Boko Haram was basically eliminated by the Joint task Force, JTF by August of 2013. The sudden withdrawal of the highly successful Joint task Force, JTF, special units that was collaborating well with the Civilian JTF and had succeeded in winning the war and even reported mortally injuring the terror leader, Abubakar Shekau, was a surprise to intelligence analysts world over and to the military men. [See analysis by Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri: Disbanding the JTF in the North-east was a grave mistake; Ynaija] It can be recollected that it was immediately when the JTF reported success and their killing of Abubakar Shekau that the government suddenly announced the withdrawal of the JTF and their replacement with a new army division. This was followed by a new unexplainable escalation in terror and was when, according to the sources the new ‘Boko Haram’ came into being and its methods suddenly changed into the successful invasion and extermination of whole towns in the north by army uniform wearing fighters. Dr. Peregrino Brimah

There Is No More Boko Haram, It Is The Military Task Force- Military Source. (PART 1)

Top level military men in the Nigerian army who spoke to us [ENDS], and another top Nigerian blogger/activist on condition of full anonymity, have further validated shocking reports recently revealed by the Voice of America, VoA, about organized, top command sabotage in the ranks of the army, with army operated ambush and assassination squads. The military men told us candidly, “there is no more Boko Haram, Boko Haram is gone, it is military task force dong the killings now.” In total 1,710 people were killed in attacks by “unknown” military uniform wearing assassins and incendiarists across Nigeria last week alone. Apparently troubled by the spate of events in the northeast and around the nation, the soldiers decided to come out and talk to those they could trust; saying that within the ranks, people were afraid of speaking as this could be their end. The soldiers further described the event the VoA had publicized, stating that another soldier in the ambush who got wounded said the Colonel in charge of the unit left these set of soldiers, taking away all sophisticated fighting equipment and leaving them at the mercy of the better equipped ambushing army unit with only Ak47’s and one or two rounds. The soldiers described frustration among military men taking part in the battle in the northeast, saying many were abandoning the army because they realize their aim of being soldiers has been undermined and the top military generals who benefit financially from equipment purchase and mobilization funding, and may be involved in a possible plot to depopulate the areas, in the conduction of the ongoing war are not going to stop the sabotage any time soon. One of the officials who revealed this information, refreshed the events of the killing of Nigeria’s loved and distinguished veteran, General Muhammed Shuwa in 2012; explaining that at the time too, the defense guards stationed by his house were pulled away to facilitate his murder. The military man described so many cases of successful ‘Boko Haram’ attacks including a recent on students in which the army stationed was always suddenly pulled out preceding the attack or cases where the army responded to invaded villages telling them their village was not in their jurisdiction. See: Revealed: Soldiers Watched As Gen. Shuwa Was Killed-PM News, Lagos Accusations of deliberate extrajudicial attacks are not alien to Nigeria’s security services. A recent attack at Keana in Nasarawa state, in which 15 innocent locals were summarily executed by military uniformed men with APC’s and military pickup trucks, has also been blamed on the Nigerian military, and an investigation is being conducted according to military spokesman, Major-General Chris Olukolade. On April 8, the Nigerian Human Rights (NHRC) indicted the military in “Apo 8” killings which happened right in the nation’s capital, Abuja. Locals in Zamfara also accuse the state security of knowing the perpetrators of the recurrent massacres including the latest this month where 250 were killed. Alhaji Amadu, the village head of Yar Galadima said several leaders of the military uniform wearing assassination squads, namely a certain Buhari (not the ex-president), a Kundu and another terrorist leader, Munjagara, have been arrested and released by government authorities who know where their terror dynasties from where they operate are located. Also related, on the possibility of top Nigerian security department involvement, is a recent ‘revelation’ by a Turkish airline manager about dropping off ammunition for terrorists at Nigeria’s Kano international airport ...........Continue (PART2)

‘They were destined to die’: 14-year-old bride reveals how she killed her husband and 3 friends (PICTURED)

A teenage bride who was forced into marriage has explained how she executed a dastardly plan which resulted in the deaths of her husband and 3 of his friends. [READ: Till death do us part: 14-year-old bride poisons groom, others in Kano] 14-year-old Wasila Umar served food laced with a local rat poison to her husband, Umaru Sani and 13 other people just 17 days after their wedding. Sani and 3 others identified as Nasiru Mohammed, Alhassan Alhassan and Indo Ibrahim lost their lives as a result of the poison. Wasila said: “Mine was a classical example of youthful exuberance; it dawned on me shortly after that it was a joke taken too far to resolve a forced marriage question” Vanguard reports: The suspect, in tears as she spoke to Sunday Vanguard at Bompai police headquarters, Kano, where she was being detained, added: “I have never enjoyed the opportunity of going to Islamic school or acquiring Western education. My father forced me into this mess by stubbornly forcing me into a relationship I was not prepared to live in “. The girl, who hails from Yansoro- Kademi in Gaya local government area of Kano State, revealed that “though my target was my late husband, I must confess that my blood went cold when I realized I had committed mass murder”. Wasila is in police custody for killing her husband, Umar Sani, 35, and three of his friends on the spot even as 10 others were hospitalized shortly after eating a local meal mixed with rat poison at Yansoro –Kademi, last week. Narrating how she executed the mass murder, she said, “On the fateful day, my husband’s meal was prepared by the senior wife and put in my room as I was due in fulfillment of his rotational duty in a polygamous setting. “I obtained the rat poison for just N100 and, at my convenience, mixed it with the local dish prepared for him. When he returned home for the feast, he came with those who were destined to die with him. I was restless but could not stop it from happening. “I felt normal and slept after the incident but the consequence of my action was clear when I was picked up by the police and I felt cold for the first time”. She explained that “destiny appears to have played a wicked one on me at this early stage of my life and I would rededicate the rest of my life to sincerely seek Allah’s forgiveness”. However, despite the overwhelming evidence the police have to prosecute the alleged culpable homicide, they seemed to be in a dilemma due to age of the suspect. Commenting on the development, Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, said “the case has been referred to appropriate authorities for the next line of action”. Majia told Sunday Vanguard: “I am assuring you that Wasila would appear in court soon because we have limitation on the number of days we can keep a suspect no matter the perceived weakness of the case or the personality involved”.

‘Why Rich Nigerian Pastors Milk their Poor Members’ – Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor shares his View

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor in an interview with Punch bared his mind on the notion that Nigerian pastors milk their poor church members.
  • Excerpts:
  • People claim churches milk the poor and live big on them. What’s your take on this?
  • It is cheap to criticise; even to criticise what you don’t understand. People don’t understand what they say about the church milking the poor. Can a poor man have money to pay tithe? A man who has no job, can he pay tithe? No, he won’t be able to pay. So how do you milk a man who has no milk?
  • In a church, you have both the poor and the rich. It is generally not the poor that finance the church. It is those with the means. A man, for example, who earns N10,000, how much is his tithe? His tithe is N1,000. A man who earns N500,000, how much is his tithe? His tithe is 10 per cent which is N50,000. How much would you milk from a man who pays a tithe of N1000? I even hear people say that the poor give money to start schools, but their children cannot go to the schools. How will they give this money when they are poor? The truth is that, the people who actually give this money are those who have the means to do so. Those people make it possible for churches to start schools. Now again, why do churches charge high fees in school? You didn’t ask me that, but I’m just throwing that in free. People must understand that there is a standard. The church wants to maintain the standard. In those days, some people will say that when missionaries started school, it was free. Don’t forget that those missionaries were being financed from different places. Who is financing us today? We are financing ourselves.
  • If I got free financing, why won’t we make education free? You must also understand that at the time, the cost of living was not the way it is today. The educational system of Nigeria is in serious trouble, so we need to up the standards. And to do that, you should be able to hire the best hands. If you hire the best, how do you pay them? Where do you get the money to pay them? How do you put the right infrastructure in place? How do you do many of the things that need to be done? How do you run the generators?
  • Why do you think we have so many poor people in the church and many rich pastors?
  • Remember that the pastors are pasturing both the poor and the rich. They are all in the same assembly. Both the poor and the rich.
  • Those who have the means in the church take time to be kind to their pastors. That is something most people don’t realise. They give their pastors money, food and different things. For example, a member of the church goes to his pastor and says, ‘I feel led to give you a car. Take this car.’ Now the pastor has a car. Did he steal it?
  • As I sit here talking to you now, I can tell you that I am training almost 100 people in institutions of higher learning. Nobody is going to broadcast that. On every 26th of December, I organise what I call poverty alleviation. I have been doing it now for about eight years.

Taking a picture of yourself is a Mental Disorder - AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION

AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION MAKES IT OFFICIAL: ‘SELFIE’ A MENTAL DISORDER Chicago, Illinois - The American Psychiatric Association (APA) has officially confirmed what many people thought all along: taking ‘selfies’ is a mental disorder. The APA made this classification during its annual board of directors meeting in Chicago. The disorder is called selfitis, and is defined as the obsessive compulsive desire to take photos of one’s self and post them on social media as a way to make up for the lack of self-esteem and to fill a gap in intimacy. APA said there are three levels of the disorder: ■Borderline selfitis : taking photos of one’s self at least three times a day but not posting them on social media ■Acute selfitis: taking photos of one’s self at least three times a day and posting each of the photos on social media ■Chronic selfitis: Uncontrollable urge to take photos of one’s self round the clock and posting the photos on social media more than six times a day According to the APA, while there is currently no cure for the disorder, temporary treatment is available through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Chicken Shawarma

Homemade Chicken Shawarma?? Yeah, I went there. You know I wouldn’t post a recipe that I don’t love. Well, I’m in love this recipe. I’ve cracked the homemade shawarma code. And it’s awesome. Seriously awesome.
Okay, so technically this recipe should actually be called Shawarma-Style Chicken. True shawarma is cooked with stacked, spice-marinated meats– lamb, turkey, chicken, beef, or a mix of meats– on a vertical spit. The shawarma turns and cooks on the spit for hours and hours, basted in fat and its own juices. Fat = flavor = tasty, amazing shawarma. Thin slices of meat are shaved from the surface and served, either on their own or tucked inside a warm flatbread, topped with tahini or garlic sauce. Shawarma is one of life’s great pleasures.
I’ve been trying to replicate the flavor of shawarma at home for months, playing with different spice combinations and cooking methods. At first I tried buying premade shawarma spice blends from the Middle Eastern markets, but none of them made my mouth happy. I needed more spice, more flavor, more oomph. So I began to experiment. Then finally, last week, I nailed it.
This recipe is probably as close as I’ll ever come to making shawarma at home. My husband says it’s even better than the

25 Most Brutal Torture Techniques (Warning: Graphic Pictures)

25. The Tub

Known as the punishment of ‘sitting in the tub,’ the convicted person would be placed in a wooden tub with only their head sticking out. After that, the executioner would paint their faces with milk and honey; and soon, flies would begin to feed on them. The victim was also fed regularly and would end up swimming in their excrement. After a few days, maggots and worms would devour their body as they decayed alive.

24. The Brazen Bull

Also known as the Sicilian Bull, it was designed in ancient Greece. A solid piece of brass was cast with a door on the side that could be opened and latched. The victim would be placed inside the bull and a fire set underneath it until the metal became literally yellow as it was heated. The victim would then be slowly roasted to death all while screaming in agonizing pain. The bull was purposely designed to amplify these screams and make them sound like the bellowing of a bull.

23. Impalement

Given his name, it should come as no surprise that this was the most favored method of execution by Vlad the Impaler. In 15th century Romania; the victim was forced to sit on a sharp and thick pole. When the pole was then raised upright, the victim was left to

Life inside the densest place on earth: Remembering Kowloon Walled City

(CNN) -- Picture a colossal empire of little houses stacked on top of each other. Visualize them connected by staircases snaking under dangling wires, through corridors so dark even police were rumored to be afraid of them.
Now picture 33,000 people living there, within the space of one city block. That was Kowloon Walled City, once considered the densest settlement on earth.

Okorocha set to dump APC

  • Considers APGA, PPA, PDP.......
The romance between Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and the mainstream opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), appears to have gone sour as indications have emerged that he may soon dump the party. New Telegraph authoritatively gathered that Okorocha was contemplating several options, including pitching his tent with the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) or returning to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) his former party. He is also said to be considering joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the event that the first two options fail. It was learnt that Okorocha became disenchanted with APC following the poor acceptance of the party in Imo State and the South-East region. The party encountered a major electoral misfortune during the last governorship election in Anambra State. Okorocha dumped APGA in the wake of the merger of several opposition political parties to form APC last year. As at the time he dumped APGA, the party on whose platform he was elected governor in 2011, there were speculations that Okorocha was being groomed to pick the vice presidential ticket of the APC and become its arrow head in the South-East. Okorocha, it was learnt, became disillusioned when he found out that APC was not also prepared to offer him the platform to actualise his vice presidential ambition. In shopping for a new platform, it was learnt that Okorocha might find it difficult going back to APGA given the unceremonious manner he left the party after his failed attempt to drag APGA into the APC merger project. It is also unlikely that he will secure a place in the PDP because feelers showed that some hawks within the party in Imo State were not favourably disposed to having him in the ruling party. Okorocha, according to our source, may probably end up with PPA, a party that is so far considered less controversial and neutral in the build up to the 2015 presidential election.

World’s First Genetically Modified Babies Born

The world’s first genetically modified humans have been created, it was revealed last night.
The disclosure that 30 healthy babies were born after a series of experiments in the United States provoked another furious debate about ethics.
So far, two of the babies have been tested and have been found to contain genes from three ‘parents’.
Fifteen of the children were born in the past three years as a result of one experimental programme at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science of St Barnabas in New Jersey.
The babies were born to women who had problems conceiving. Extra genes from a female donor were inserted into their eggs before they were fertilized in an attempt to enable them to conceive.
Genetic fingerprint tests on two one-year- old children confirm that they have inherited DNA from three adults –two women and one man.
The fact that the children have inherited the extra genes and incorporated them into their ‘germline’ means that they will, in turn, be able to pass them on to their own offspring.
Altering the human germ-line – in effect tinkering with the very make-up of our species – is a technique shunned by the vast majority of the world’s scientists.
Geneticists fear that one day this method could be used to create new races of humans with extra, desired characteristics such as strength or high intelligence.
Writing in the journal Human Reproduction, the researchers, led by fertility pioneer Professor Jacques Cohen, say that this ‘is the first case of human germ-line genetic modification resulting in normal healthy children’.
Some experts severely criticized the experiments.
Lord Winston, of the Hammersmith Hospital in West London, told the BBC yesterday: ‘Regarding the treatment of the infertile, there is no evidence that this technique is worth doing . . . I am very surprised that it was even carried out at this stage. It would certainly not be allowed in Britain.’
John Smeaton, national director of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, said: ‘One has tremendous sympathy for couples who suffer infertility problems. But this seems to be a further illustration of the fact that the whole process of in vitro fertilisation as a means of conceiving babies leads to babies being regarded as objects on a production line.
‘It is a further and very worrying step down the wrong road for humanity.’
Professor Cohen and his colleagues diagnosed that the women were infertile because they had defects in tiny structures in their egg cells, called mitochondria.
They took eggs from donors and, using a fine needle, sucked some of the internal material – containing ‘healthy’ mitochondria – and injected it into eggs from the women wanting to conceive.
Because mitochondria contain genes, the babies resulting from the treatment have inherited DNA from both women. These genes can now be passed down the germ-line along the maternal line.
A spokesman for the Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority (HFEA), which regulates ‘assisted reproduction’ technology in Britain, said that it would not license the technique here because it involved altering the germ-line.
Jacques Cohen is regarded as a brilliant but controversial scientist who has pushed the boundaries of assisted reproduction technologies.
He developed a technique which allows infertile men to have their own children, by injecting sperm DNA straight into the egg in the lab.
Prior to this, only infertile women were able to conceive using IVF.
Last year, Professor Cohen said that his expertise would allow him to clone children –a prospect treated with horror by the mainstream scientific community.
‘It would be an afternoon’s work for one of my students,’ he said, adding that he had been approached by ‘at least three’ individuals wishing to create a cloned child, but had turned down their requests.
