Feast of Goals: Super Eagles beat Liberian Lone Star 6:1, make finals of AFCON

The Nigerian team Super Eagles made true its pre-match assertion that it will come out victorious against Liberia’s national football team The Lone Star in the build up to the continent’s biggest soccer fiesta tagged AFCON2013.

The match played at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar was a feast of goals for the Eagles as at the end of the 1st 45 minutes Efe Ambrose 1′ ensured the Nigerian side had a lead which was topped by Ahmed Musa during the 38 minute.

Victor Moses scored his first goal for the national team to make it 3, while Mikel Obi whose trip to join the team was surrounded in so much controversy converted a penalty to give the team a 4-0 edge over Liberia,  Ikechukwu Uche who came on as substitute made the tally 5-0 during the 75th minute.

However, Wleh Patrick Ronaldinho scored a goal. The final scores were 6-1.

The other qualifying team was Zambia who made it through to the finals of the African Cup of nations after their mercurial performance in the last edition. They beat Uganda 9-8 in a highly tensed and  dramatic display of penalty shoot-outs that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Ghana who are equally favourites are also through to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
